There are other ways of avoiding
probate which involve joint ownership of assets. In 1979, I worked for an
older attorney who didn't like trusts. He had at least 25 ways to avoid probate
without using a trust.

Most of these other ways to
avoid probate still exist, but I believe a trust is still superior as a total,
comprehensive solution to the problem of probate. That attorney now
prepares living trusts for his clients.

Generally, all assets should
be placed in a living trust. There is really no substitute for the flexibility
and ease of a living trust.
